The Village of MacGregor (pop. 921) is located in the Central Plains Region of Manitoba, just 30 km west of Potage la Prairie along Highway #1. Like other towns in the Region, its economy is based heavily on agriculture and agro-related industries. Area producers grow many different field crops which include cereal grains, oilseeds and specialty crops, as well as vegetables to supply the McCain Foods plant near Portage la Prairie. The area around MacGregor is also well-suited to livestock production and the area is home to several good-sized cattle operations. Other businesses in MacGregor include the MacGregor Pharmacy, MacGregor Lo-Cost and two grocery stores.  Small manufacturing firms and a number of home-based businesses produce items such as kitchen cabinets, bees wax candles and farm machine components. The Bison Boutique specializes in floral arrangements and “made in Manitoba” gifts.  

MacGregor also had two tennis courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, as well as a fully irrigated 9-hole golf course and driving range.  A Youth Drop-In Centre (the HUB) is located on the main street.  Located in Centennial Park is the Lions Club campground, walking trail and Spray Park.  A multiplex golf club house, convention centre and community hall are being planned for MacGregor.
